Cinemagic Film and Television Festival

7 - 30 October

Calling all film buffs! See the best in new world cinema in this action-packed festival, featuring a talent lab, creativity corner masterclasses with industry professionals, and fun-filled family film events. Take part in the annual CineSeekers and CineFocus film juries, which invite participants to become reviewers and choose the winning films of the festival. This year’s festival opens with the new Warner Bros animated adventure movie Storks, and includes classics such as Cinema Paradiso and Gregory’s Girl. More info >>

Eat and Drink Belfast Restaurant Week 

8 - 16 October

Belfast is serving up a treat this festival season with nine days of the best local food and drink on offer. Our local producers and eateries will showcase the passion that goes into making, cooking and serving up the very best of fresh local produce, with unique food experiences, bespoke menus and special offers to feed your appetite, from breakfast to express lunch, afternoon tea to fine dining and everything in between. Ulster Bank Belfast International Arts Festival

11 - 29 October

Culture abounds at this annual arts festival, featuring artists and performers from across the globe. Highlights include the Northern Ireland premiere of the flamboyant and vocally gifted, Obie Award-winning New York performer Taylor Mac, who brings a series of special, participative concerts to the festival. The festival also features the Irish premiere of classical pianist Emanuele Arciuli, and the brand new multimedia work Run to the Rock by visual and performance artist Amanda Coogan. More info >>

BBC Good Food Show

14 - 16 October

Do you love good food? Are the Hairy Bikers, Paul Hollywood, James Martin and Paul Rankin among your favourite TV chefs? Then the BBC Good Food Show is the event for you. Taking place at the Belfast Waterfront, it will feature some of the nation’s favourite chefs and the region’s very best producers of food, drink, and artisan products, as well as cookery demos and state-of-the-art kitchenware. David Hockney: I draw, I do

Until 16 October

Marking David Hockney's 80th year, this exhibition is the first significant presentation of the artist's work in Ireland. It focuses on his early work including the famous Paper Pool series, alongside work from the current decade, all of which celebrates David Hockney’s interest in drawing. Read more >>

Belfast Fashion Week

20 - 23 October

West Coast Cooler Belfast Fashion Week returns for four days of fantastic fashion, with nightly catwalk shows from the high street and our local designers, as well as an array of fabulous fringe events including Style Sunday, Ju-Tox blogging event, positive body image seminar for young girls in association with Little Women and a brand new People’s Catwalk event which gives you the chance to join the catwalk and experience a full day in the life of a model. Ciclovia

30 October

Get on your bike in October, because Ciclovia Belfast is back! Following a successful first year in 2015, this fun-filled cycle fest will return on Sunday 30 October, inviting everyone to grab their bicycle and hit the traffic-free cycle freeway from Botanic Gardens to Belfast City Hall. With lots of family-friendly free events throughout the morning, it’s the perfect chance for people of all ages and abilities to get pedalling. More info >>

Halloween Monster Mash

30 October

Be part of the biggest Halloween celebrations in the city with the annual Halloween Monster Mash on the slipways of Titanic Belfast. From 4-7pm, monsters and ghouls of all ages are invited to enjoy a spooky evening of fun, with spooktacular street theatre, macabre music and the largest fireworks display in the city. More info >>

Twilight Market

8 - 9 November

The award-winning Twilight Market will return from 8 - 9 November at St George's Market. The Twilight Market will help to bring the Northern Ireland Year of Food and Drink 2016 to a close with over 130 local food, drink and arts and crafts traders selling their wares over two days. Read more >>

Barbarians V Fiji

11 November

The home of Ulster Rugby, Kingspan Stadium will host an international fixture between the Barbarians and Fiji on Friday 11 November. The famous Barbarian FC team is steeped in history stretching back to its 1890 inception. The squad is an extremely talented group of players, from all over the world, who have been selected by invitation only. The Barbarians play in traditional black and white hoops, though the players retain the socks from their home club’s strip. Read more >>

Friendship Four Festival of Hockey

25 - 26 November

The Friendship Four ice hockey festival is returning to Belfast with four new colleges from the US, competing at the SSE Arena for the Belpot Trophy. Quinnipiac University, the University of Vermont, St Lawrence University and the University of Massachusetts will travel to Belfast on 25 and 26 November for the tournament. Each of the teams compete in the NCAA Division One – the top level of ice-hockey in the US. Read more >>
